Back to Nature
There is something truly magical about camping, I love sleeping under the stars, steaming cups of tea to help keep you warm and the cosy sleeping bag at the end of a hiking day. Camping is perfect for going back to basics and living a simpler life for a short while.
With the longing to get back to nature, we spent a cold, stormy Sunday planning our two week summer trip to Scotland, taking in the Cairngorms, Rosemarkie and Glen Nevis. From here we will take some smaller day trips to other places in and around the areas we are staying. Our plan is to get into the mountains, kayak on some of the lochs and lose ourselves in the woodlands and forests. I will be taking my trusty canon camera and one of my 35mm cameras to capture some of the epic scenery, so expect lots of photographs nearer the time.
Camping brings back happy memories and my husband and I have had some epic adventures over the years. We’ve found ourselves in the middle of a heat wave in both Norfolk and the Peak District, where we barely needed sleeping bags and stayed up sitting outside our tent until late, listening to the sounds of the countryside. We’ve also found ourselves in some terrible storms the most memorable being the back end of a hurricane in Solva and a full on storm in Whitby- thankfully we had the car to seek refuge in.
Most of all I am looking forward to switching off, to not having to charge my phone, wash my hair or worry about work. I can simply relax and enjoy being in the fresh air and it doesn’t come fresher than bonny Scotland. As with our trip to Canada, I plan to research and plan for the entire two weeks to make sure we fit in as much as possible. It’s exciting to have something to look forward to and visit somewhere I have lusted after for such a long time. I’ll be putting up some posts on planning and our camping gear list- so keep a look out for those.
So, if anyone has any suggestions, comment them below or leave me a note on Instagram, I would love to hear your recommendations and what you loved the most.
