Lockdown Ramble
As I write this, I am coming to the end of two months working from home and I will in fact be going back into the office.
This has you can imagine, caused a lot of stress as we head back into the unknown which is why I am thankful for our local walks more than ever.
With the river, woodland and wild fields to explore, there has been so much spring beauty to appreciate and I wanted to share some of my new favourite finds with you.
The river is a place we love to walk to, it’s pretty isolated which makes it a great place to unwind and escape to after a rough day. Surrounded by fields, towering trees and local wildlife (hello cows) it’s the perfect place for Luna to cool off and have a swim. She is such a water baby now and we can’t keep her from jumping in. The river feels so tranquil and is definitely a place we will continue to visit long after lockdown ends.
The woods is my favourite local find, full of towering pine trees, it’s a stunning place to walk to. The ground is soft and spongy as you walk and the light that filters down through the tall trees is spectacular. It feels so calm as you walk through and the only sound is the beautiful bird song that fills the air. We are quite lucky as we have two small wooded areas we can explore and escape to. There is just something wild about being under the canopy of trees, it really does feel like nature takes over.
Wild fields are a dream to photograph, many are surrounded by wild hedgerows and small winding paths that are lovely to explore. With quite a few farms along our walk, we have many fields to soak up along the way. Nature thrives in these areas and it’s so pretty to see patches of bright yellow buttercups, long grass and little heathers mixed in. It’s also a good place for our pup to have a good run out, as a gun dog she is in her element.
As much as I love the Peaks, I’ll be staying away for a little while longer, but with a beautiful walk on our doorstep I don’t mind too much. So, as it’s my last day at home, I’m going to have a mug of tea and read a couple of books to help soothe my uncertainty today.
Happy Sunday
Sarah
