Frosty Mornings in nature
I’m a winter soul at heart, I crave the cold and the isolation that comes with those end of year months. There is something so peaceful about the silence on a cold, frosty morning, the sounds of nature are muffled and you could hear a pin drop.
These are my favourite mornings. The morning after a freezing night, where you wake up to freezing fog, golden sunlight and everything is coated in a dusting of frost. These are the mornings I like to get out with my camera.
Often there is no one else around, so you can soak up the wonder before you in relative peace. Berries and leaves stand out in their frosted coats and the webs of spiders sparkle and gleam. It is a different world in the frost, one where the smallest thing can look beautiful.
I long for these mornings, the cold makes me think clearer and soothes my frenetic thoughts. There is something oddly satisfying about getting cold hands, when capturing the beauty around you.
Once I can’t feel my feet anymore, I reluctantly retreat and head home for a hot cuppa and to look back at my captures. We don’t have these mornings often, which makes them all the more special, but it does ignite my want of cold adventures.
